Yay for brushing your teeth! We are huge supporters. However, we want to make sure that brushing our teeth is not also damaging our teeth and gums. Brushing your teeth with a toothpaste that is too abrasive can cause long-term damage by eroding the enamel. Enamel is the hardest substance in the body and it does not regenerate; once it’s gone it is gone. Whitening toothpaste is the most common culprit of high abrasiveness causing damage we see regularly. We recommend products that promote a healthy pH balance and assist with sensitivity.

Our recommendations are:

  • CARIFREE Fluoride Free Gel (especially for those prone to decay/cavities)
  • Plain Baking Soda (a more cost effective way to balance pH and lower decay rate)
  • Toms of Maine Sensitive (with Argenine)
  • Arm & Hammer Dental Care
